Assumption’s First Musical/The Importance of Being Earnest

Assumption’s First Musical/The Importance of Being Earnest

“My experience in the first musical at Assumption can be summed up in one word Astonishing. Playing the part of Lady Bracknell was challenging but in the end amazing. She is a sarcastic, smart, rude and hilarious character. Getting to be the person ‘that everyone loves to hate’ was a great opportunity. I am so proud to have been coached by the music teachers, and director of the production, but mainly I am proud that I got to be part of the very first (and on hopefully on going) musical here at ACS.” -Nicole Skalij

"My experience in the play was wonderful. It was a great opportunity and I had loads of fun. I made lots of new friends and saw a lot of my other friends. I had fun even though I didn't get a big part, I still had fun singing in it! It was a blast and I plan on doing it again!" -Jenna Waite

"I think the show was amazing, the energy was great and everyone did an amazing job. Everyone did so good even my friends said they didn't expect it to be that good. Marie-Claire, Erik (goldi-locks), Jaime-Lee, Andrew and everyone involved did so well at memorizing their lines. I had so much fun and am kind of sad that it's all over. I learned so much from everyone and met so many new people. Thanks everyone for a great time!" - Kathy Gawron

"It was a fun experience. This was an experience that I'll never forget. I met people that I know I'll be friends with throughout highschool. I have never been in a musical before, and I'm glad I joined. Although sometimes attendance for the dancers wasn't good, it all worked out in the end. Thanks for the experience." -Virginia Trajanovski

“I love the idea of a musical because it involves the entire school community and community at large - Musicals are truly school productions! - it is a wonderful opportunity for students because so many kinds of skills are involved which makes Drama more inclusive. Musicals are always audience pleasing and there's no competition involved!” -Gina Locey

“Musicals cater to such a wide variety of people. It is the ultimate showcase of talent as musicians, dancers, singers, actors, costume crew, set design, lighting design, hair and make-up artists, building and construction, stage management and crew are able to explore their interests in an inclusive environment. Students end up working along side teachers as equals. We had a lot of laughs putting this show together but there were also some hard times when we thought the show would never be ready. Ultimately, if the students take anything with them from this experience I hope that they remember the laughs, the new formed friendships and the satisfaction of seeing their hard work pay off! A commendable job to all!!” -Naomi O’Neill
