French Trip to Quebec City
French Trip to Quebec City
For five days over the Family Day weekend the grade 10 and 11 French students from Assumption College participated in a trip to Quebec City that was fantastique. The trip was filled with lots of cold and exciting events such as tubing and skating at Valcartier, tobogganing at the Château Frontenac and eating Maple Syrup on the snow, all of which were best enjoyed with a warm pair of snow pants!
A focal point of the trip was a visit to l’hôtel de glace, a spectacular ice hotel which was amazing yet very cold, it is hard to believe people actually sleep on the ice beds! Activities also included tours of upper and lower Quebec City and the history of Le Château Frontenac with its 600 rooms.
On the Sunday, the group attended Mass in French at the beautiful Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica and stopped for maple butter on fresh bread and a quick look at the Montmorency Falls. The Quebec winter Carnival was the highlight of the trip and included a first time visit with Bonhomme for most of the participants. He danced, participated in shows and was featured in the night parade.
There were many opportunities for great photos and even better memories. Throughout the trip, the students were able to use their French skills with other fluent French speaking people and saw the value of the French education. Come and join the fun next year! Joyeux Carnaval!
