Golf News - Zach Kempa Earns a Bronze Medal

Assumption Golf Team News-2009/2010

For the third time in the past four years, one of Assumption College’s golf team members has earned the right to represent our school at the OFSAA golf championship!  Following in the footsteps of Ryan Terdik (OFSAA Silver Medalist), and Nicole Vandermade (OFSAA Gold Medalist), Zach Kempa qualified for OFSAA by carding a one over par 73 at the CWOSSA golf championship at the Greens of Renton Golf Club.  It was a cold, windy day, but Zach placed in a tie for second, earning him a berth at OFSAA held on October 14-15 in Vineland, Ontario.  Zach has been a team member and leader for all five years he has been at Assumption.  We wish Zach luck in his final high school golf competition!

Other boys team members this year included Nick Brimmer, Brody Muise, Adam Rice, and Mike Spriet.  Nick and Brody competed with Zach at the CWOSSA golf tournament, playing extremely well and representing our school with true sportsmanship.  Mr. Dennis wishes to thank the boys for a good season.

For the second straight year, Cheryll Johns has been the sole girl golfer representing our school.  Cheryll is an extremely talented young golfer who scored well at BCSAA and CWOSSA, narrowly missing qualifying for OFSAA.  Good luck next year Cheryll!

Zach Kempa Earns a Bronze Medal at OFSAA Golf Championship!

At the Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club in Vineland, Ontario,  Zach Kempa participated in the OFSAA Boys Golf Championship on October 14th and 15th.  Despite the frigid temperatures and howling winds, Zach held his composure and played smart rounds, earning him a bronze medal, placing third out of 120 golfers.  This was a fitting end to a wonderful golf career at ACS, where Zach was an integral part of the golf team for the past 5 years.  Mr. Dennis is proud of Zach’s efforts off and on the course, as Zach’s commitment, work ethic, and humility made him a great role model for other students, and a great leader.  Best of luck next year Zach as your start a new phase in your life and golf career!
