Music Concert / Tri-High Review
Music Concert / Tri-High Review
This year on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, the much anticipated 4th annual Tri-High Concert, was hosted here at our very own Assumption College School. Needless to say, the event was a phenomenal success as over 130 music students from St. John’s, Holy Trinity and here at Assumption gathered together to do what they do best: play spectacular music. The evening itself may not have begun until 7:00, but the students involved arrived at 2:00 ready and eager to practice their pieces. Students began practicing in sectionals based on instrumentation, and were encouraged to sit next to students from schools other than their own. This was because the night was just as much about meeting other musicians and being sociable as it was about the music. These students, however, definitely did not lose sight of the music.
To start off the night, each school had its own concert and intermediate bands perform their own songs. The music was moving, awe-inspiring and enigmatic, but even it paled in comparison with the grand finale when every student from all three schools joined as one colossal band. “The Witches Brew”, “The Invincible Warrior”, and “Soul Express” were the three songs played by the conjoined bands and despite having only practiced them as a group earlier that day, the sound and feeling were astonishing and dazzling. Overall, the night went off without a hitch, with a special thanks to all of the staff and students who helped with planning, organizing and running the event. A tremendous time was had by audience member and musician alike as the night was spectacle to thunderous applause and modest smiles by all. It is definitely not too forward to say that next years Tri-High Concert will be a great success as well and we will all look forward to it enthusiastically.
