P.U.S.H. Retreat

P.U.S.H. Retreat

Assumption College's senior "P.U.S.H." retreat saw yet another successful year this fall season of 2003. This exceptional extended school trip, organized by Chaplain Wayne captures the interest of numerous grade twelve students and has been held annually for the last 4 years in conjunction with another senior retreat entitled "Stealing Home", which is held in the spring season.. Both retreats are continually gaining popularity and are destined to become a revered tradition at Assumption for years to come. The "P.U.S.H" retreat is held each year at App's Mill and resumes for two full days that are filled with fun, memories and emotions.

This retreat is really the ultimate opportunity for grade twelve students to grow closer together and bond in their senior year. It provides countless opportunities for students to share and learn about each other, as well as themselves. During the retreat most students find themselves overwhelmed with emotions as they share thoughts and past experiences, both good and bad. Some stories uplift them; giving hope and bringing laughter, while others lead to tears; bringing them closer together. Throughout the two days in which the retreat is held students are able to escape the stress and worry of their everyday lives and put aside their fears and confusions, allowing them to focus on the important things in life that we so often forget.

The whole environment that the "P.U.S.H." retreat creates really encourages students to really appreciate the things around them.. Many find themselves looking a little longer, listening a little harder and thinking a little deeper. There is never a dull moment during this retreat, from the moment that you step on the bus until the packing of your bags. The entire getaway is filled with excitement and anticipation, as the participating students never know what will happen next.

The "P.U.S.H." retreat has remained a secret at Assumption College, and that well preserved aspect of surprise that accompanies the trip makes it even more appealing.  The activities that take place during the retreat range from outrageous and extreme to expressive and touching, and will surely remain as memories for several grade twelve students who have participated in them in the past. Spaces are limited, so any Assumption students interested in an exhilarating, life altering experience should be sure to sign up for the "P.U.S.H." retreat when they reach their senior year.
